Types of lung cancer
The two main groups are non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), which is the most common, and small-cell lung cancer (SCLC). Treatment differs between the two.
Diagnosis and molecular testing
Modern lung cancer care depends on more than just the tissue diagnosis. Molecular tests on the biopsy identify specific mutations or markers that guide targeted therapy or immunotherapy decisions.
Treatment options
Treatment is individualised and may include one or more of:
- Surgery for early-stage disease
- Radiotherapy, including stereotactic techniques
- Chemotherapy
- Targeted therapy for specific mutations
- Immunotherapy
