For years, patients on the North Coast have travelled to Durban or Pietermaritzburg for specialist cancer care. North Coast Oncology exists to change that — a coordinated, multidisciplinary practice close to home in Richards Bay.
Our approach
Cancer care rarely fits neatly into a single discipline. Effective treatment planning brings together clinical oncology, radiation oncology and, where relevant, gynaecologic and surgical expertise. At North Coast Oncology, those specialists share a practice, review cases together and agree on a plan before treatment begins — so patients receive one coordinated recommendation rather than a series of separate opinions.
A balanced treatment philosophy
We are not limited to a single oncology approach. When surgery is the most appropriate option, our gynaecologic oncologist leads the case and draws on input from radiation and clinical colleagues. When systemic therapy or radiotherapy is the right first step, those specialists lead — always with the wider team involved in planning.
Care that respects your time
A cancer diagnosis is a heavy thing to carry. Consultations are structured to give patients and their families time to understand the diagnosis, ask questions, and leave with a written plan they can revisit at home. Between visits, patients have a named point of contact at the practice.
Community and education
Beyond the consulting room, our practitioners contribute to community cancer awareness — through local radio, screening initiatives, and referral partnerships. The resource hub on this website is part of that same commitment: reliable, plain-language information for patients and their families.
